Didier Deschamps praised Anthony Martials maturity after naming the Manchester United forward in his squad for Frances upcoming clashes with the Netherlands and Uruguay.

Martial, 22, was not included in Deschamps World Cup-winning squad in the summer and was also snubbed for the sides recent Nations League matches against Germany and Holland.

However, Martial has been crucial for United in the last few weeks, scoring five goals in his last five appearances for the club, and has been rewarded with an international call-up.

Deschamps has been reluctant to tinker with his squad which triumphed in Russia but Martials barnstorming form was impossible to ignore.

There was, though, no place for Alexandre Lacazette in Deschamps party despite an impressive start to the 2018/19 campaign for the Arsenal striker.

Asked about his decision to recall Martial, Deschamps replied: Anthony has been with the national team for a while now. Hes experienced both good and bad times, which is also the case for his club.

What hes currently achieving with Manchester United is closer to what hes able to do regularly. Im talking about commitment and efficiency in front of goal.

Hes a young player and I hope he is becoming more mature. He has proved that on the pitch by how important hes been for Manchester United for a few weeks already.

Its obvious by Jose Mourinhos choice [to start Martial] and what hes doing on the pitch.

Martial is reportedly ready to commit his future to United and Jose Mourinho has urged the club to tie the Frenchman down with a new contract.

Asked if he was confident Martial will stay, Mourinho said: I dont belong to the discussions of contracts.

I dont even know their contracts in the sense of numbers and Im really happy with that – to not have to participate in these types of discussions.

Obviously I hope we will agree. He is a talented player – everybody has known that since he was at Monaco. Another thing is a talented player with consistency and understanding what a football match is in the globality.

When you reach that level or are almost reaching that level is when you become a top player. One thing is a top talent, another thing is a top player.

When he is now much closer to becoming a top player, obviously I would like him to stay. I know the club very much wants him to stay so hopefully he is going to stay.
