Manchester United believe they will win the race to sign Leicester City centre-half Harry Maguire, with Manchester City buckling at the Foxes asking price.

While Maguire is thought to prefer a move to the Etihad to link up with Pep Guardiolas title-winning outfit, City only value the England international at around £50million.

Leicester, however, are unwilling to sell Maguire on the cheap and want in excess of £80m.

Citys reluctance to cough up the cash has left the door open to Ole Gunnar Solskjaers side, with United chiefs willing to lodge a bid far closer to Leicesters asking price.

Once their bid is accepted, Uniteds negotiators are then confident they can lure the 26-year-old to Old Trafford, according to the Daily Mail.
