Two British backpackers have shocked Facebook users by playing with a deadly blue-ringed octopus.
Ross Saunders and friend Johnpaul Lennon had been fishing in Australia when they caught the yellow and blue spotted creature.
Blue-ringed octopuses carry enough venom to kill 26 adults in minutes – and administer the poison through tiny and often painless bites.
Most victims do not realise they have been bitten until they find themselves struggling to breathe and unable to move.
In the video, shared by Ross on social media, the backpackers can be seen dangling the octopus against their bare arms as they squeal and laugh.
He later confessed that they had no idea the octopus was one of the most dangerous animals in the world.
The video of the pair has since racked up thousands of views, with many people commenting that the men are luckily to be alive.
One person said: Check these morons out while another added: Youre dead in eight minutes if it bites you. Just beyond belief how stupid people can be.
If you dont know if a creature is dangerous then assume it is.
A third wrote: Cant believe he put that on his arm. If it bites you, it paralysis you and you stop breathing within minutes.
