Samsung is offering iPhone owners a huge incentive to switch to its Android phones

Samsung is trying to tempt iPhone owners to switch to its latest foldable smartphones with a huge cashback offer. The new Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 were announced earlier this month and offer a more robust folding design that’s can survive a soaking for the first time. There are also better cameras, improved 120Hz refresh rate displays, and beefed-up power thanks to the latest and greatest Snapdragon 888 processor.

With prices starting from £949 for the Flip3 and £1,550 for the Fold3, these certainly aren’t cheap phones but anyone with the latest iPhone in their pocket can make a serious saving. Samsung is currently offering over £500 off the new Fold models for anyone happy to hand over their Apple device and replace it with something more flexible.

Right now, there’s £550 off when trading in an iPhone 12 or £450 if you happen to own an iPhone 11. Samsung will even give owners of the older iPhone X a hefty £350 if they are happy to move over to Android.

Along with these trade-in deals, Samsung is also offering a free one-year subscription to its Care+ service which includes battery replacements and repairs even if it’s broken by accident.

Foldable phones are still a relatively new concept, but Samsung is hoping that these latest models will help to make this clever idea more mainstream. One of the biggest concerns surrounding these devices is their ability to survive life on the road.

The original Fold was criticised for being far too fragile with Samsung delaying the release due to a number of reviewers breaking their devices ahead of the 2019 launch. The 2021 range now gets a tougher Armor Aluminium body and new Gorilla Glass Victus, which Samsung says makes them 80 percent more durable than before.

There’s also that new IPX8 rating which basically means the devices should survive a dip in the local pool without becoming waterlogged.

“We are proud pioneers of the foldable smartphone category and continue building on our legacy of innovation to shape the future of this industry,” said Conor Pierce, Corporate Vice President UK & Ireland, Samsung Electronics. “With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3, we are evolving our Galaxy Z Series portfolio with two devices built for the varying demands of today’s fast-paced world. For the first time, our much-loved S Pen is coming to the Galaxy Z Series with the Galaxy Z Fold3, while the Galaxy Z Flip3 is equipped with more power than ever before.”
