Nigel Adams was born on 30th November 1966 in Goole. His upbringing cannot be termed as ‘typical old school Tory’. During his childhood, his parents decided to move to a South Yorkshire mining village in the Selby area. His late mother was working as a school cleaner for about 20 years. He started to contest for the marginal Rossendale and Darwen seat at the 2005 general election. However, he came second with 1.9% as compared to the 3.1% average. Nigel was later selected as the candidate for the Conservative Party. Four years later he joined the 2010 general elections. This time he was elected with 23.7% votes.
In January 2016, the Labor Party proposed some changes in the Parliament. Among 72 other conservative MPs, Nigel voted against this change. However, the Government decides to make this amendment. Nigel Adams is married to Claire. She is working as a part-time office manager. While her salary is under £20,000. The couple is blessed with four children and they are residing in Yorkshire.
