London (Parliament Politic Magazine) – Rishi Sunak accuses Vladimir Putin of triggering a crisis in food and energy prices, emphasizing the need for British food security.
Rishi Sunak has blamed Vladimir Putin for setting off an “energy and food price bomb.”
The prime minister revealed his government’s three-point plan to sustain British farming when he commented on Tuesday, 20 February.
“Food security is a vital part of our national security, and recent years have brought home the truth,” Mr. Sunak expressed.
“Putin set off not just an energy price bomb, but a food price bomb too.”
The prime minister contended that it is “important to strengthen food security at home” in an age of climate change and instability.
Recently, Rishi Sunak also criticized Putin for Alexei Navalny’s death and stated Alexei Navalny demonstrated incredible courage as the fiercest advocate for Russian democracy.
UK Prime Minister said, “This is terrible news. As the fiercest advocate for Russian democracy, Alexei Navalny demonstrated incredible courage throughout his life. My thoughts are with his wife and the people of Russia, for whom this is a huge tragedy.”
Moreover, a month ago, Rishi Sunak warned Vladimir Putin as he made a surprise visit to Ukraine.
The PM also granted the Ukrainian Order of Freedom by President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv and announced £ 2.5 billion of support for the war effort. He told Mr Zelensky: “Putin might think he can outlast us, but he is wrong.
“We stand with you today, tomorrow, and for as long as it takes.” And the PM added that failing to defeat Putin would have wider repercussions.
“Waiver now, and we embolden not just Putin but his allies in North Korea, Iran and elsewhere,” he said. That’s why the United Kingdom and the free world will continue to stand with Ukraine, as we have since the very beginning of this war.”
He visited the warzone shortly after ordering air strikes in Yemen. Mr Zelensky has voiced fears that the crisis in the Middle East is drawing the world’s attention away from his country’s war with Russia.
Rishi Sunak expressed that the £2.5 billion in funding – an increase of £200 million in the last two years – would cover long-range missiles, air defense, artillery ammunition, and maritime security. Mr Sunak said he desired to send a “strong signal” of the UK’s support for Ukraine with his visit.
Mr. Zelensky thanked the PM for his “personal leadership” after the pair signed a new security accord in Kyiv. Mr. Sunak was awarded the Ukrainian Order of Freedom honor, recognizing his “outstanding personal contribution to strengthening Ukrainian-British interstate cooperation, supporting state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
