Turkey is ready to host a peace summit between Ukraine and Russia, announced President Recep Tayyip Erdogan following talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Istanbul. Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s commitment to facilitating a just peace and continuing support for Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Zelenskyy, who is seeking additional military support from allies, described the talks as “sincere and fruitful” but did not confirm details about the proposed summit, which is anticipated to be held in Switzerland. He acknowledged Erdogan’s role in negotiating the release of Ukrainian prisoners from Russia.
Erdogan reiterated Turkey’s support for Ukraine and outlined discussions on port security, Black Sea safety, prisoner exchanges, and food security. Turkey’s strategic position and previous diplomatic efforts, such as the Black Sea Grain deal, underscore its potential role in advancing peace talks.
