Wandsworth (Parliament Politics Magazine) – East Putney and Southfields residents shared views on local issues at a Wandsworth Council drop-in, hosted by Leader Simon Hogg at St Michael’s Primary School.
The event, which took place today on February 22, was one of several monthly drop-ins that take place throughout the Wandsworth Wandsworthborough.
Residents can find out more about Council services, local plans, and ideas for improving your neighborhood. They can also discuss relevant topics and get help and guidance.
Over warming beverages and refreshments, residents might be able to speak with the Council Leader, your ward council members, local MP, and representatives from Citizens Advice, Community Safety, and other services.
Residents brought up a number of significant issues during the morning, such as fly tipping, community safety, and the Council’s response to the expense of living.
Simon Hogg responded by discussing the Council’s cost of living response, the most generous package in London, and the Council Tax frozen for the third consecutive year.
He added that they have expanded the CCTV network, which now has over 1000 cameras, to increase community safety. This network has already assisted in the prevention and resolution of significant crimes.
They have doubled the number of daily street sweeping schedules throughout the borough, extended our well-liked monthly skip days, and implemented two free bulky garbage collections per home annually in an effort to keep the streets clean.
Simon Hogg said:
“Listening to residents is at the heart of everything we do. Today’s drop-in was a valuable chance to hear directly about what’s working, what’s not, and how we can make Wandsworth an even better place for everyone.”
Wandsworth council said about the local drop in that the community drop in events are continuing across the borough. Locals can find their next local drop-in at the website, wandsworth.gov.uk/here-to-listen.

What specific measures has the council implemented to combat fly tipping?
To keep an eye on illegal dumping, many government agencies have placed CCTV cameras in well-known fly-tipping locations. In addition to offering evidence for prosecution, this technology can assist in identifying criminals.
Frequently, campaigns are started to inform locals of their responsibility to dispose of waste responsibly, stressing the value of utilizing authorized waste transporters.
As part of larger measures to deter fly tipping, councils have raised fines up to £1,000 per infraction. Deploying patrol teams with the authority to impose these fines is part of enhanced enforcement.
When it comes to more significant occurrences or those involving hazardous materials, local authorities collaborate closely with agencies like the Environment Agency.
