Croydon (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Croydon Council rolls out free Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) this summer, supporting families with fun, nutrition, and enrichment during holidays.
This summer, Croydon Council is offering a fun program of free Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) to help families in the borough keep their kids content, healthy, and active over the school break.
There is something for every youngster, whether they enjoy athletics, the creative arts, science, cuisine, or outdoor exploration, thanks to more than 50 local organizations that provide exciting programs at more than 60 locations. The main goals of the activities are to make them enjoyable, inclusive, and enriching.
The government-funded HAF program offers free access to a daily activity, a healthy lunch, and an opportunity to meet new people in a friendly, safe setting to qualified families that receive benefits-related free school meals.
On June 30, eligible parents and caregivers in Croydon should expect an email or text message from Holiday Activities containing their special booking code. Visit the Council website to learn more about what is available and how to make a reservation.
Families are urged to go through program listings or get in touch with specific providers for additional information about the inclusive and SEND-friendly choices that are available.
Due to space constraints, reservations must be made in advance. If parents or guardians are unclear about their child’s eligibility, they should consult their school.
For kids not receiving free school meals due to benefits, some of the groups provide paid spots. Parents should contact the club immediately with any questions.
Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon said:
“The summer holidays can be challenging for parents and carers, that is why we make sure that we offer a range of high-quality, inclusive holiday clubs to support children and young people, particularly those eligible for free school meals.
Thank you to our partner organisations for helping us to create an exciting programme of events and, most of all, the young people whose enthusiasm, creativity, and energy bring the clubs to life.”
What are the key features of Croydon’s HAF program?

No cost for families to join the planned activities. Includes sports, arts, educational workshops, and recreational events tailored for children of different ages.
Healthy food options are served as part of the programme, addressing food insecurity during school breaks. Aims to support families who might struggle to provide care or meals during holidays.
