Haringey (Parliament Politics Magazine) – The summer holidays have officially started at Devonshire Hill Primary School in Haringey, marking the end of the academic year for pupils and staff.
Children ages 5 to 15 are invited to take part in a variety of sports and fitness activities at this year’s Summer Camp, which is hosted by Dalmage Active. From team competitions and track events to basketball and football, the program aims to foster personal growth, self-esteem, and good health.
Skilled coaches were available to help participants enjoy active play in a nurturing setting as they learned new abilities.
Cabinet Member for Children, Schools, and Families Cllr. Zena Brabazon visited the camp and played a nice game of table tennis with the kids.
Cllr Brabazon said:
“We’re in the thick of the summer holidays and we’re making sure as a council children and young people who are eligible for free school meals get a full day of sports activities and nutritious food – all free for the next four weeks.
This is a great summer programme, so I hope everyone has a really lively and enjoyable holiday.”
Additionally, Haringey’s Dalmage Active’s Summer Camp contributes to the government-sponsored Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) program, which provides qualified children ages 5 to 16 with free activities and wholesome meals.
The program, which is run by reputable local providers, attempts to keep kids nourished, active, and healthy during the summer.
Joining the fun this summer and taking part in the many events happening throughout the borough is still possible. Some sessions require pre-registration, but the majority are drop-in.
How will the school communicate with parents and guardians during the summer holidays?
The school office uses email and phone to stay in touch with parents for updates, enquiries, and important notices.
Regular newsletters and updates are posted on the school’s website and distributed to families to keep them informed about school events, activities, and arrangements.
Just before the summer break, the school typically provides key information to parents about holiday dates, any summer programs offered on-site (such as holiday clubs), and reminders about the return to school date.
The school shares information about local council-organized summer activities or support services available to families during the holidays.
