Weekend rail disruption hits Greenwich & Orpington

Greenwich (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Engineering works this weekend will disrupt trains via Greenwich, Orpington, and Cannon Street. Passengers are advised to check before travelling.

August 2–3, Saturday and Sunday

Disruption between Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, and Orpington during the weekend

All lines between Sevenoaks and Tonbridge will be closed due to engineering work over the weekend, with an extended closure from Orpington to Sevenoaks on Sunday.

Changes to the service on Saturday:

Hastings line: A 30- to 40-minute delay will result from the nonstop diversion of services between London Bridge and Tonbridge via Redhill.

Paddock Wood line: Through Maidstone East and Canterbury West, one train will travel from London Charing Cross to Ramsgate every hour.

Trains from Charing Cross to Maidstone East will not operate on the Maidstone East line. Instead, customers should utilize the diverted Ramsgate routes that also call Swanley, Otford, Maidstone East, and Borough Green & Wrotham.

There will be more trains between Sevenoaks and London Charing Cross.

Sunday: Extra modifications

Services from Charing Cross to Sevenoaks will only operate between Orpington and Charing Cross.

There will be more services from Charing Cross to Orpington.

Trains will stop at Eynsford and Shoreham on their way from Victoria to Ashford International.

Bus replacements:

Saturday: Stopping at Hildenborough on the way from Sevenoaks to Tonbridge.

Sunday: Calling at all stations or just Sevenoaks between Orpington and Tonbridge.

August 3rd, Sunday

No trains via Greenwich or London Cannon Street

All services along this line will be suspended due to engineering work between London Cannon Street, London Bridge, and Greenwich.

Woolwich line: No trains travel via Greenwich from Cannon Street to Slade Green.

Services from Victoria to Dartford will operate normally on Sunday.

Between Lewisham and Dartford, accessible buses will travel via Woolwich Arsenal, Greenwich, and New Cross.

Other routes that you can take for free:

Between Cannon Street, Charing Cross, Embankment, Waterloo, Southwark, and London Bridge is the London Underground.

DLR between Greenwich and Lewisham.

How will the engineering work alter routes via Greenwich, Orpington, and Cannon Street?

On Sunday, August 3, there will be no train services to or from London Cannon Street or via Greenwich. All train operations through London Cannon Street, London Bridge, and Greenwich will be suspended.

The Woolwich line (Cannon Street to Slade Green via Greenwich) and the Bexleyheath line (Cannon Street to Slade Green via Bexleyheath) will have no services.

Replacement accessible buses will run between Lewisham and Dartford, passing through New Cross, Greenwich, and Woolwich Arsenal.

Passengers are advised to use London Underground services, Docklands Light Railway (DLR) between Lewisham and Greenwich, and other rail routes that remain operational at no extra cost as alternative ways to travel.
