Harrow (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Harrow residents can meet local officers at new Cuppa with a Copper events, offering advice, support, and a chance to raise community concerns.

12 community and professional organizations came together for the most recent “Cuppa with a Copper” event, which was organized in collaboration with Conversation Café, to offer guidance and assistance to the people of Harrow.

Participating groups included the Roving Team for health checks, Harrow Local Policing, Citizens Advice Bureau, Each Counselling, Harrow Bereavement, Hestia, Healthy Harrow, Voluntary Action Harrow, Samaritans, Cranstoun, Work Harrow, Harrow Carers, and Mind in Harrow.

Residents have the chance to meet with local officers and talk about significant issues impacting the community at this event, which has grown to be very popular around Harrow.

There were about 100 attendees, who may participate in group talks or one-on-one sessions.

The initiative is designed to give residents a relaxed and friendly environment to access advice, with specialists on hand to provide tailored information across a range of issues.

PCSO Neal, representing Harrow Police, said:

“It’s wonderful being part a community event where so much support and information can be provided under one roof.”

How will October and November sessions focus on Stoptober and Movember?

The session will promote Stoptober, a national campaign encouraging smokers to quit smoking for 28 days in October, aiming to help people quit for good. Attendees will receive information and support on quitting smoking, including access to local stop smoking services and advice on quitting aids such as NHS Quit Smoking app and vaping.

The campaign emphasizes community support, confidence building, and the health benefits of quitting smoking. The Harrow event will provide tailored advice and signpost resources aligned with the Stoptober goals.

The session will focus on Movember, raising awareness of men’s health issues, including mental health, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.
