Hammersmith and Fulham (Parliament Politics Magazine) – The annual Apple Day festival returns to Fulham Palace on Sunday, October 5, offering a fun-filled day of autumn celebrations for families and visitors.

With the resumption of its annual Apple Day event next month, Fulham Palace will host a harvest-style celebration of orchard products and community spirit.

The family-friendly festival will take place on Sunday, October 5th, and will feature live music, garden games, orchard tours, and an autumnal artisan market.

Apple pressing classes, an apple cake baking competition, and treats cultivated in the heritage site’s expansive garden are all available to festival attendees.

In its thirteenth year, Apple Day offers both adult and kid-friendly activities in the 13-acre garden in Bishop’s Avenue, Hammersmith and Fulham Palace.

People can discover the distinctive heritage apple types cultivated in the centuries-old former residence of the Bishops of London, ranging from Boston Russett and Golden Pearmain to Api Noir and Barchard’s Seedling, on tours of the ancient orchard and walled garden.

Additionally, visitors may explore a seasonal pumpkin display, learn about Fulham Palace’s own flock of hens from the knowledgeable garden workers, and try their hand at pressing apples to make fresh juice.

With some 50 artisan stalls, including the Palace’s own garden barrow stall with organically grown produce, jams, and chutneys, the lively Apple Day celebration will take place across the garden from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition to a themed route across the open area, kids can take part in face painting, craft workshops, and music-making.

Through role-playing, costume, and practical enjoyment balancing apple baskets, sewing bee participants will narrate tales of Palace gardeners from bygone eras.

Activities in the walled garden include archery tag and zorbing, and guests can play lawn games like connect four and chess.

With divisions for adults and youngsters (14 and under), baking enthusiasts can showcase their delectable creations in an apple cake baking competition.

“Apple Day is always a highlight of our year,”

says Raphaela Ashford, event organiser at Fulham Palace.

“We’re so excited to welcome everyone back to celebrate the harvest with music, stalls, games and of course apples. By buying a ticket, visitors are not only enjoying a fantastic day out but also helping us care for the Palace and continuing to host a variety of events and activities.”
