Ealing (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Brentside High School in Hanwell is supporting Ealing Council’s campaign to tackle electronic waste by encouraging pupils and families to recycle responsibly.
Recently, locals and students from Ealing came together to recycle unwanted goods and devices.
Donations, which were intended for recycling rather than landfilling, included anything from laptops and cell phones to outdated kitchen appliances as part of a community-wide initiative.
Teachers at Brentside commended the students’ and families’ enthusiasm, pointing out that the project not only cleared up homes but also increased awareness of the environmental impact of e-waste.
For students, the initiative also served as an educational opportunity. Year 13 pupil Mira Hachem said the experience had left a lasting impression:
“The whole experience was informative and through it I learnt even more about the importance of recycling e-waste as it protects our environment.”
How to drop off e-waste at Brentside High School collection point?
Collect unwanted electronic devices and household appliances including phones, laptops, chargers, small kitchen appliances, and cables.
Take the intended items to school on a rectangular green collection day, as shown by the notices on the school or the Ealing Council recycling program website.
Ensure that devices are secure and that batteries or hazardous components are managed according to recommendations.
Drop off the e-waste at Brentside High School at the designated point. This will be marked clearly on the day or in advance of the event and often, at the point there will be a temporary collection bin.
Check the school or council website or contact the school before the event day to confirm the time for drop off, as well as a full list of items can be dropped off.
