Washington (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu backs US President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan, with civilian rule, Hamas disarmament, and Israeli security control.
As reported by The Telegraph, Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, declaring the two nations “can achieve the impossible.”
What did Benjamin Netanyahu say about Donald Trump’s Gaza plan?
Addressing the White House press conference on Monday, the Israeli prime minister stated,
“You’ve proven time and again what I’ve said many times – you are the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House.”
He said, “When our two countries stand shoulder to shoulder, we achieve the impossible,” after assuring full support to Mr Trump’s new Gaza plan.
Mr Netanyahu said Gaza will remain under Israeli security, be demilitarized, and Hamas disarmed.
When questioned if the terror group did not back President Trump’s proposal, he responded, Israel will
“finish the job by itself. This could be done the easy way, or it can be done the hard way, but it will be done.”
He said,
“Gaza will have a peaceful, civilian administration that is run neither by Hamas nor by the Palestinian Authority.”
Mr Netanyahu thanked Mr Trump for hosting him at the White House, praising his friendship and leadership.
He added,
“I support your plan to end the war in Gaza, which achieves our war aims. You are the greatest friend that Israel has ever had in the White House. Your leadership abroad is changing the world for the better.”
Donald Trump’s views on Netanyahu’s support for the Gaza plan
President Trump said,
“I also want to thank Prime Minister Netanyahu for agreeing to the plan and for trusting that if we work together, we can bring an end to the death and destruction that we’ve seen for so many years, decades, even centuries and begin a new chapter of security, peace and prosperity for the entire region.”
Benny Gantz’s stance on Trump’s Gaza peace plan
Israeli opposition lawmaker Benny Gantz voiced support for Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan on social media.
He said,
“I laud President Trump’s extraordinary efforts to secure a hostage deal and safeguard Israeli security. Now is the time for initiative. President Trump’s plan must be implemented, our hostages brought home, Israel’s operational freedom maintained, Hamas’ terror regime in Gaza replaced and moderate Arab States instated instead as I proposed a year and a half ago.”
Mr Gantz added,
“We must not miss out on the opportunity to bring back the hostages, safeguard our security and catalyse a ‘Strategic Flip’ expanding the circles of regional normalisation.”
What did Hamas say about receiving Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan?
Hamas spokesperson Mahmoud Mardawi confirms Hamas has not obtained the US President’s Gaza peace proposal.
His comments come following Trump’s joint press conference with Netanyahu supporting the US plan.
Referring to accepting the plan, Mr Trump added,
“Now it’s time for Hamas to accept the terms of the plans that we’ve put forward today.”
