Southwark (Parliament Politics Magazine) – The British Heart Foundation opened its latest store at Surrey Quays Shopping Centre in Southwark on October 7, expanding its retail network.
To raise money for important cardiac research, the store will sell books, entertainment, bric-a-brac, men’s and women’s apparel, and accessories.
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is currently looking for volunteers to help with online sales, store floor assistance, and donation sorting. To discuss becoming engaged, anyone who is interested is invited to stop by the store and speak with the staff.
Jack Watson, Area Manager at British Heart Foundation, said:
“The support we’ve already received from the local community has been fantastic, and we’re excited to welcome everyone into our new space. We hope the shop will become a real hub for the area, connecting people through donations, volunteering and shopping.”
To assist supply the new store, they are also requesting donations of high-quality apparel, accessories, and other goods from the local community.
There will be a BHF defibrillator placed just outside the store.
The mall will soon be removed as part of the Canada Water Masterplan. This won’t occur, though, until the new Tesco Extra is finished, which should be available in late 2028 or early 2029.
Will the shop be affected by the Canada Water redevelopment plans?
The Canada Water redevelopment plans will eventually displace the British Heart Foundation shop in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, which is one of the areas being altered in the development masterplan, but this will not happen immediately as things are planned.
The aim of the Canada Water masterplan is to create a colourful new town centre, to form a mixed retail, leisure, entertainment, and community focus of some one million square feet – three times the size of the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre at present.
The plans assure that there will be trading broad and remain continuous longer term with a new Tesco store and significant support for local businesses through discounted retail space and business networks.
