Croydon (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Croydon’s David Lean Cinema launches a special “Passions” episode and live performance for the 150th birthday of composer Samuel Coleridge‑Taylor.
On Tuesday, November 4, the David spare Cinema will show an occasion from Sky trades’ heartstrings series on Croydon musician Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, who was born 150 years ago, featuring Chi-chi Nwanoku as the special guest at the Croydon Clocktower.
Despite being regarded as one of the topmost melodists of the 20th century, Coleridge-Taylor was impoverished when he collapsed outside West Croydon Station in 1912 and passed away shortly later.
Nwanoku named Coleridge-Taylor for her investiture of the heartstrings talkie series, and she’ will share in a unique Q&A with the followership following the webbing.
Also, in a first for the levy-run trades cinema, Nwanoku will perform some of Coleridge-Taylor’s work live with Liberian- Norwegian pianist Kamilla Arku and Julián Gil Rodríguez, the London Symphony Orchestra’s primary alternate violin.
