Redbridge (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Redbridge’s top-performing secondary schools for GCSEs 2025 have been revealed, highlighting standout results and community reaction to the latest rankings.
The Department for Education provided the data, which showed how each school performed on the 2024–2025 GCSEs.
They examined the rankings of Redbridge’s government-funded schools and asked each of the top seven to discuss their accomplishments.
The Attainment 8 score, which is based on students’ performance in up to eight qualifications English, math, three English Baccalaureate qualifications (science, computer science, history, geography, and languages), and three other approved qualifications was used to rank the schools.
Additionally recorded was the proportion of students who received a grade 5 or higher on their GCSEs in math and English.
With an Attainment 8 score of 79.9, Woodford County High School in High Road, Woodford Green, was Redbridge’s top-performing school in the most recent GCSEs.
It also had the highest percentage of pupils achieving grade 5 or above in English and maths with 98.9 per cent.
Headteacher Gemma Van Praagh told this paper:
“I could not be prouder of our students and staff.”
The hard work, commitment, and persistence it takes from both pupils and staff to achieve such outstanding results is truly remarkable.
While we are, of course, delighted to be recognised for our academic excellence, what makes me most proud is the kind of young people our students are and are becoming as they grow here at Woodford – kind, responsible, creative and collaborative individuals.
”Their personal development over their years at Woodford has been inspiring, and I am confident they will use these results as keys to the next steps on their wider learning journey, becoming positive global citizens who make a meaningful mark on the world.”
With 58.5 and 75.3 percent of students attaining grade 5 or higher in English and arithmetic, respectively, Valentines High School on Cranbrook Road in Ilford achieved the third-highest Attainment 8 score.
“These results truly highlight the dedication and teamwork shown by our students, staff, and parents,”
