USA (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Three people were taken into custody after a fight escalated into a gunshot at Willowbrook Mall in Passaic County, authorities said.

According to a Facebook statement from Police Chief Joseph Rooney, the Wayne Police Department responded just after 7 p.m. to reports of gunfire near the mall’s food court as several people fled the area.

Authorities reported that after a physical altercation, one shot was discharged. No one was hurt.

According to Rooney, two adults and one minor were arrested in relation to the altercation. He did not specify whether or not charges would be brought.

The public is not currently in danger, according to the police, and the mall will reopen on Wednesday at its regular time.

On Wednesday morning, a call for more information was not returned by Wayne police.

The issue is still being looked into. The Wayne Police Detective Bureau requests that anyone who saw the incident or has information get in touch with them.

Are any charges filed against the three people detained?

Wayne Police haven’t blazoned specific charges against the two grown-ups and one chick detained following the December 30, 2025, fight at Willowbrook Mall’s food court that led to a projectile, as the disquisition into the incident remains active.

The three were taken into guardianship for their involvement in the altercation among a group, but no public updates confirm formal charges like assault, unruly conduct, or munitions offenses; they remain held pending further inquiry into the unidentified shooter’s conduct.

Authorities prioritize relating the arm stoner, with no injuries reported and the boardwalk restarted; charges could follow substantiation statements or substantiation review, typical in similar public safety incidents.
