London (Parliament Politics Magazine) – A man has died and several people are injured following a disturbance in Acton, west London. Police have seized the area and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to Birkbeck Road, Acton, at 04:05 GMT on Sunday, where they discovered a man with injuries.
Despite immediate medical services, the man died shortly after being found injured at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police stated, “At 04:05 hrs on Sunday, 8 December police were called to reports of a disturbance ongoing in Birkbeck Road, Acton.”
They added, “Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics and found a man injured at the scene.”
Police have confirmed his death and are investigating the circumstances.
BBC confirmed that the Metropolitan Police reported several others were believed to have been injured in the incident and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Forces are working to assess the full extent of the injuries. An investigation is ongoing to determine the reason for the incident.
The police have set up a large crime scene, with several road closures for investigation.
A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police said, “While we recognise the impact this will have on local residents and businesses, it is essential to provide us with the best chance to secure evidence.”
Forces said, “The public can expect to see a significant police presence in the area as officers begin their investigation.”
The Met Police is requesting anyone with information to contact them at 101, using the reference 1132/08 DEC, or to submit anonymous tips to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
Due to the incident, Acton remains under a significant police cordon, and the A4020 The Vale is closed between Acton Lane and Mansell Road. Bus services 70, 207, and SL7 have been rerouted.
The recent incident is part of a wider series of violent events in the area, raising ongoing concerns among residents.
