President Joe Biden’s reelection team is launching a series of nationwide events and an advertising campaign centered on abortion rights, an issue Democrats see as a powerful tool against likely Republican nominee Donald Trump. Vice President Kamala Harris will lead the first event in Wisconsin on Monday, marking what would have been the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that established a constitutional right to abortion.
Biden, Harris, first lady Jill Biden, and second gentleman Doug Emhoff will continue the campaign with a joint appearance in Virginia on Tuesday, their first together for the 2024 reelection bid. The campaign aims to highlight the impact of the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a ruling Trump has claimed credit for due to his appointment of three conservative justices to the Court.
