UK (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Cameron Menzies punched a drinks table after losing a tense five-set first-round match to rising star Charlie Manby at the PDC World Championship.

After striking the underpart of the table three times, the 26th seed from Scotland apologized to the Alexandra Palace followership by raising his hand as he exited the stage.

Manby, a 20- year-old English novice, rallied and won with his eighth match outrage after Menzies, who was seen with a cut on his right hand, had led 1- 0 and 2- 1 in sets.

Former Premier League champion Glen Durrant – commentating on the subsequent match for Sky Sports – said:

“Charlie Manby is a superstar in the making. Sometimes you can build a player up at 20 years old. We thought it was going to be the match of the afternoon and it delivered.

But it wasn’t the ending we all want to see. For Cameron Menzies, I think he will regret that for the rest of his life. It was not a good watch.”

Co-commentator Stuart Pyke added:

I agree, [it was] an extraordinary reaction but we saw him walking off stage and he did put up his hand in apology. It was a spur-of-the-moment thing.”

Brendan Dolan of Northern Ireland defeated Tavis Dudeney 3-1 earlier in Monday’s afternoon session with a 170 checkout to win the second set.

What triggered Menzies’ angry reaction during the match?

Cameron Menzies’ angry response stemmed from the crushing disappointment of squandering a 2- 1 sets lead in his first-round PDC World Championship match against Charlie Manby on December 15, 2025. The Scottish 26th seed missed pivotal brickbats in the final set, allowing the 20- time-old debutant to clench palm on his seventh match outrage in a thrilling 3- 2 decider at Alexandra Palace.

Menzies had dominated beforehand, winning the first two sets convincingly, but faltered under pressure with inaccurate finishing, including a critical miscount or vacillation on checkouts that handed Manby instigation.

Post-match, he punched the drinks table underpart three times in raw emotion, injuring his hand before apologizing to the crowd by raising it as he left the stage. Sky Sports pundits Glen Durrant and Stuart Pyke described it as a robotic outburst from an otherwise spirited player.
