Chiswick (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Glebe Street Surgery merges with Chiswick Medical Practice, expanding healthcare services and unifying patient care across the Chiswick community.

Grove Park Surgery, Wellesley Road Surgery, and Chiswick Family Doctors Practice were the three Chiswick surgeries that came together to establish Chiswick Medical Practice last year.

In addition to Burlington Lane in Grove Park, Wellesley Road, and Chiswick Health Centre, Chiswick Medical Practice will have a fourth location with the addition of the Glebe Street Surgery.

Although the practice allows patients to make appointments at all of its locations, it makes an effort to serve those who would rather visit the closest location, which is typically the surgery where they initially joined.

Just as you may currently be offered appointments at our other sites, you may now occasionally be offered appointments at Glebe Street, Chiswick Medical Practice informed patients. This means more availability and flexibility when it comes to accessing the care you need.

Patients at Glebe Street Surgery have been informed:

A new hub run by GPs will improve access to care. There will be more services available to you, such as:

  • Specialized services for women’s health (menopause clinics, coil fitting)
  • Removing skin blemishes, moles, or tags from our minor surgery areas is known as minor surgery.
  • LGBTQ+ inclusive care (CMP has won a national Gold Award)
  • Otago chair-based exercise programs and a gardening group are examples of social and wellness support.

Patients at Chiswick Medical Practice say they are seeing the benefits as things settle down and people get used to the larger practice.

The merger of the doctors’ surgeries had teething problems, including IT problems and miscommunication, which resulted in patients showing up at the wrong location for an appointment or a doctor seeing a patient without the necessary equipment for a procedure.

This is a part of our dedication to provide the Chiswick community with high-quality, easily accessible, and long-lasting care.

As the merger progresses they say they will inform patients and they ‘look forward to welcoming Glebe Street’s patients and staff into our wider Chiswick Medical practice family’.

What benefits does the merger bring to Chiswick Medical Practice patients?

Appointments may now be made for patients at Glebe Street or any of the four locations. In addition to lowering wait times and increasing convenience, this larger network offers more choices and flexibility for receiving care.

A greater number of clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, physician associates, and healthcare assistants are available through the combined practice. More specialized care, including diabetes treatment, elder care, and access to urgent care, is made possible by this multidisciplinary team approach.

The practice can run more effectively if management, IT systems, and administrative tasks are consolidated under a single contract and system. Clinical personnel may concentrate more on patient care as a result of the simplification, which also eliminates call waits and administrative duties.
