An honorary bench recognizing the victims of gender- grounded violence and domestic abuse in our city will be unveiled. This will produce an enduring keepsake and a place for soul-searching.
The first-ever Violence Against Women and Girls( VAWG) Conference is being held in Croydon this time at Croydon College. Experts, associations, and survivors will come together on Thursday, November 27, to raise mindfulness on a local and public position.
A member of Croydon’s Expert by Experience Panel, a group of survivors of domestic abuse whose behavior is motivating change and aiding others, will also speak at the conference.
Residents, seminaries, and community associations will admit free training sessions and forums from the Council and mate associations over the course of the 16 days. These shops will concentrate on advising pointers of abuse, aiding victims, and defying dangerous actions.
Also, Croydon Town Hall will fly a flag and illuminate the structure in orange, which is the sanctioned color of the global movement to exclude violence against women and girls and represents concinnity and sanguinity.
In the diving Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Delivery Plan 2024 – 2027, the Council has committed to combating misogyny and adding mindfulness of gender- grounded violence.
Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon said:
“Violence against women and girls has no place in Croydon. Through the work of our VAWG Delivery Plan and the 16 Days of Activism we stand together with our partners to protect and empower victims, challenge perpetrators and create a safer borough for all.
The awareness walk is a great way of coming together to show our support. Whilst the VAWG Conference will inspire us all to commit to doing what we can to end violence against women and girls –not just through words, but through action, learning and supporting those who need it most.”
How will Croydon Council measure the impact of the 16 Days initiatives?
Tracking participation figures in events, shops, and juggernauts organized during the 16 Days period. Collecting feedback from actors, community mates, and service druggies to assess mindfulness raised, stations changed, and perceived effectiveness of the conditioning.
Analyzing reported cases of gender- grounded violence before, during, and after the crusade to identify any changes in reporting behavior or service uptake. Engaging with original associations, securing brigades, and enforcement agencies to review cooperative sweats and identify practices or areas demanding enhancement.
Monitoring social media engagement, outreach, and media content to estimate the wider reach and resonance of crusade dispatches. The council emphasizes using these perceptivity to upgrade unborn enterprise, ameliorate support services, and strengthen community adaptability against gender- grounded violence time- round.
