Harrow (Parliament Politics Magazine) – West Harrow’s ‘Cuppa with a Copper’ event sparks vital discussion on women’s health and public safety, promoting community-police engagement.

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, St. Peter’s Church in West Harrow hosted the most recent Cuppa with a Copper event, which was organized in collaboration with Conversation Café.

In addition to Harrow Council and guests from throughout the borough, 17 community partners attended this month’s event, which had as its theme women’s health and safety.

With presentations from experts in a range of industries and Harrow’s local police force, the event provided a “one stop shop” for information and guidance.

  • Harrow Local Policing

Speaking to Harrow Online, PCSO Neal said:

“To see so many professionals and Community partners in working together under one roof, really provides the residents of Harrow the opportunity to come along and to gain specific, useful information & advice, in a safe, friendly, personal way.”

There are already plans for future Cuppa with a Copper-themed events at St. Peter’s Church, Sumner Road, Harrow, HA1 4BX (10am–2pm):

  • Tuesday 2 September 2025 – Suicide Prevention, Crime Prevention and Met Engage
  • Tuesday 7 October 2025 – Stoptober, Crime Prevention and Met Engage
  • Tuesday 4 November 2025 – Movember, Crime Prevention and Met Engage
  • Tuesday 16 December 2025 – Crime Prevention, Met Engage and Christmas Cheer

How accessible are the Conversation Café venues for women with ongoing health conditions in Harrow?

The Conversation Café venues in Harrow are designed to be fully accessible and specifically support residents with ongoing health conditions, disabilities, unpaid carers, and pensioners. All venues used for the Conversation Café are fully physically accessible, with features such as wheelchair access, accessible toilets, and free parking available at locations like St Peter’s Church in West Harrow. 

The cafés provide a welcoming, supportive environment where people can get face-to-face advice and peer support, particularly targeting those who may struggle to access digital resources or prefer in-person engagement.

The café also prioritizes accommodating different accessibility needs through physical accessibility and inclusive communication.
