Barnet (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Barnet libraries launch a series of festive community events, offering seasonal activities aimed at engaging residents throughout the winter period.

Kids are welcome to participate in the activity and craft a festive greeting of their own. Attend a triarama workshop to celebrate Chanukah.

Additionally, there is a Christmas surprise event for senior citizens and their caregivers, as well as a gingerbread home mystery trail for kids. 

Everyone is tempted to cuddle up with a festive novel at Christmas book displays. People can visit the local library to discover what’s available.

This month, there are many short- term library closures in Barnet. Due to amendments to the study spaces, Finchley Church End Library will be closed from Monday through Friday, December 5. It will renew on Saturday, December 6. 

For staff training, all libraries will be closed on Friday, December 5. With the exception of Finchley Church End Library, which is closed all day, libraries will renew at 4 p.m. 

For necessary electrical work, Chipping Barnet Library will be temporarily closed from Monday, December 8 to Sunday, January 4. 

While Chipping Barnet Library is closed, you can visit the North Finchley or Osidge libraries, which will have additional staffed hours.

What events are suitable for children under 5 during the festival?

Barnet libraries offer limited explicitly gleeful events suitable for children under 5 during the downtime period, with utmost vacation crafts targeted at periods 5. Still, ongoing under- 5 programs like Baby Bounce and Play or Rhyme Time may incorporate seasonal themes, and general play sessions give a gleeful atmosphere. 

Multi-sensory sessions for babies over 1 time (non-walking), with songs, rhymes, and play some libraries run vacation- themed performances (£3 figure, parent/ guardian needed). Toddler Time or Rhyme Time Interactive liar and movement for periods 1- 4, frequently free in term time and adaptable for downtime fests. 

These run at branches like Colindale, Dicing Barnet, and Osidge; numerous are low- cost or free with bookings via the Barnet Council events runner. Parent supervision is obligatory, and events foster early development alongside vacation cheer.
