Hammersmith & Fulham (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Hammersmith & Fulham celebrates environmental excellence as four more local parks secure the prestigious Green Flag Award for outstanding green space.
With the renowned Green Flag distinction, 25 of our parks and green areas have now been recognized as some of the best in the nation.
The 25 open spaces were evaluated by judges from Keep Britain Tidy based on their stringent standards, which include examining the places’ safety, biodiversity, heritage, and management.
The four sites added to our growing list are:
- Eel Brook Common, Fulham, SW6 4PT
- Marcus Garvey Park, Hammersmith, W14 8SZ
- St Paul’s Church and Open Space, Hammersmith, W6 9PJ
- Vicarage Gardens, Fulham, SW6 3LA
Cllr Florian Chevoppe-Verdier, H&F Cabinet Member for Public Realm, said:
“H&F is home to some of the best and most cherished green spaces in London and we know they’re loved by our residents, visitors and the local wildlife. One of my personal favourites is Margravine Cemetery which retained its flag this year. It’s fantastic that the hard work of our Parks team, Friends groups and individual volunteers, and maintenance contractors idverde has been recognised across so many of our sites. Safeguarding and enhancing these spaces to make sure they’re the very best they can be is just one of the ways we’re making H&F stronger, safer and kinder.”
To celebrate, we will hold a special flag-raising event at Eel Brook Common in Fulham later this summer.

Why did H&F increase its investment in parks between 2025 and 2027?
Hammersmith & Fulham (H&F) is increasing its investment in parks between 2025 and 2027 by an additional £1.1 million with the goal of improving all aspects of their parks and green spaces. This investment forms part of a broader “Parks for the Future” strategy aimed at maintaining world-class parks and open spaces in the borough.
Enhancing the appearance, maintenance, and facilities of parks and open spaces to ensure they remain welcoming, safe, clean, and of high environmental quality.
Supporting biodiversity and ecological sustainability by creating climate-aware and wildlife-friendly green spaces with native planting, increased tree canopy, tiny forests, habitat improvements, and sustainable surfacing.
