Jurgen Klopp has fired a warning to Liverpools rivals – insisting his side will keep going for glory despite sealing the Premier League title. He also insisted he doesnt want a statue of him built at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp is celebrating sealing the Premier League title after Chelsea beat Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
And after a night of partying with the players, Klopp warned his rivals across England and Europe that his team are not ready to stop.
He insists they will continue going for greatness and will look to build on their success which follows the Champions League win last year.
And when asked about the prospect of a statue if Liverpool keep winning titles he told Sky Sports: “I dont want a statue so thats not my motivation.
“But its clear with the team we are in a good moment obviously, we are all young enough to still go for something, this is not the final destination.
“This is not what we said we reach that then we all finish our careers, so this is a moment like last year the Champions League final, the year before the Champions League final, so from that moment you carry on thats what we will do now. Seven games to go.
“I dont think about these seven games today obviously, when I heard first time about the fixture list I thought Oh my god two games in three days and then eight days off, it makes no sense but now its a perfect fit, so we will train from tomorrow on but full throttle.
“we will go for everything. We play Manchester City, if we got there only with 50% they shoot us out the stadium, thats not what will happen so we will be ready.
“We have nine games, now weve played two and champions, great. And now lets enjoy football, but our football, thats the plan.”
Jurgen Klopp and his players watched the action at Stamford Bridge together and celebrated when the title was confirmed.
Fans flocked to Anfield to party and enjoy the celebrations.
And Klopp doesnt regret that despite the threat of coronavirus.
But he also got too emotional to deliver a speech to his players, admitting he was overwhelmed by the occasion.
“I was just not able to speak,” he added.
“Its usually good moment to have a speech to the players after the first 20 or 30 minutes or something like that after the final whistle but I was just not able to do it, I have no idea why.
“I was completely overwhelmed, I was crying too much last night. I dont know when that happened the last time, but I am fine now.
“Yesterday night I couldnt have a speech to the boys because nobody could understand me, thats it no explanation. Its big. We know, its really big, being in this club when these things happen its really lucky I would say.
“Its a good moment to be at Liverpool and Im really happy to be part of this.”
