Man in 40s dies in Westminster crash as police investigate

City of Westminster (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Police have launched an investigation after a man in his 40s tragically died in a crash in Westminster, prompting a probe into the fatal collision.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 26, an automobile struck a man in Park Crescent, Westminster.

After emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they took the man to the hospital, where he passed away. An ‘urgent’ investigation into the crash has now been initiated by police.

Anyone with information or who saw the incident should call 101 and mention reference 7014/26SEP. Since the car’s driver failed to halt at the site, detectives from the Serious Collision inquiry Unit have begun an immediate inquiry into the incident.

Detective Sergeant Glen Mera from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:

We are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information they may have about this fatal collision.

From our enquiries, we can see that the car hits the victim before driving off and hitting another vehicle. We are keen to speak with the driver.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:

“Detectives have launched an investigation after a man in his 40s was struck by a car in Park Crescent, W1 on Friday evening.

On Friday, 26 September at 19:35hrs police were called to Park Crescent, W1 following reports that a man had been hit by a car. Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service who treated a man in his 40s before taking him a near-by hospital, where he sadly died.

The man’s next of kin are currently being supported by specialist officers. Anybody who witnessed the incident – or who has information – should call 101, quoting reference 7014/26SEP.”

Were any witnesses or surveillance footage found at the scene?

As police investigate, they are withholding whether they had witnesses report seeing, or any other video for available cameras that may assist to inform on what did or did not occur. 

In previous incidents in Westminster, there has been a record of skating when Westminster authorities mentioned and encouraged the public to consider any CCTV or witness observations to help develop event details.  And with every past incident regarding skateboarding, there are simply no indications as of now regarding the availability in this incident. 

Police have requested that anyone having information, or knowledge of the crash itself, advance or come forward regarding information which may assist an investigation.
