Manchester United working on Corentin Tolisso signing

Manchester United are keen to bring Corentin Tolisso to the Premier League this summer.

Manchester United are working on a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso who fancies a crack at playing in the Premier League. He has spent three seasons in Bavaria since coming through Lyon’s academy and enjoying a four-year spell in the Ligue 1 club’s first team.

The 25-year-old was a member of Frances World Cup-winning squad in 2018 and cost the Bundesliga giants a club record ÂŁ37million three years ago.

He has grown unsettled in Germany this season and wants to leave, having made just 13 Bundesliga appearances this season, with only seven of those starts.

Bayern arent going to stand in his way as they look to fund transfers, with Manchester City’s Leroy Sane on their wishlist.

But Tolisso needed an operation to repair ankle ligaments last month, and United will want him to prove his fitness before pressing ahead with a move.

Manchester United tried to sign Tolisso on loan in January after he fell down the Bayern pecking order, but they werent prepared to entertain offers for him.

Now, however, the Bavarians’ mindset has changed and they will allow the Frenchman to move on.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking at several midfield options for the summer with the future of Paul Pogba looking less than assured.

Inter Milan, Juventus, Napoli and Atletico Madrid are also looking at Tolisso as a potential summer transfer target to provide Manchester United with some competition.

Solskjaer, however, is keen to pair Pogba with Bruno Fernandes and thinks the pair can perform well with one another.

“Good players can always play together, so definitely thats a big yes [they can],” said the United manager on Sky Sports The Football Show.

“But then I have got Scott [McTominay], Fred, Nemanja [Matic], three players there.

“There are many games coming up and Im sure we will find a good connection between them.

“As a coaching team we are looking forward to it.

“Its exciting. We do have an exciting squad. Bruno came in and made an impact and thats been great for everyone.

“That was a boost for the club, for the supporters and the players.

“I definitely think Paul is raring to go. Paul has had a difficult season with injuries. He said that himself.

“Marcus [Rashfprd] as well is getting better. For those two, this gives them a chance to start on a par or even ahead of the other players if, and when, we get going.

“They have been focused and mentally its maybe easier for them to train hard now because they can see light at the end of the tunnel.”

David Sadler, who played for United for a decade and helped win the European Cup in 1968 against Benfica, is confident Fernandes and Pogba can work in tandem.

He told the MEN: “I don’t know, but I’m very surprised because Pogba looked to be about to conquer the football world and it seems to have gone downhill a bit.

“He’s an outstanding player. He’s so tall, he’s pacy. He’s leggy but he somehow keeps the ball under control.

“And when he’s at his best, you would have him in your side every day of the week. But he just doesn’t seem to be showing it.

“The obvious answer is that he’s being distracted elsewhere and that woudn’t be a surprise in modern football.

“I would certainly play him in a midfield position that suits his ability to score goals and get to both ends of the pitch, with one or two popping up around him. Then I think we’d get the best from him.”
