Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to mark Prince Philip’s birthday in this heartwarming way

MEGHAN MARKLE will celebrate Prince Philip’s 99th birthday by joining Prince Harry and their son Archie on a zoom call with the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh sometime today.

Prince Philip is celebrating his 99th birthday today while in isolation with the Queen and the royal couple were photographed at Windsor Castle to mark the occasion. Royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah spoke to Lorraine Kelly on Good Morning Britain about the other plans the Duke has for his birthday and revealed Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Archie will be sending their wishes over a video call.

Roya revealed the Dukes plans will be “low key” as the UK continues to battle coronavirus and the Queen and Duke remain in isolation.

The royal correspondent revealed the Queen and Prince Philip will celebrate his birthday together before marking the occasion in a very different way with his family.

The Queens grandson, his wife Meghan Markle and their son Archie will “almost certainly” join the video call from their residence in the United States.

Lorraine asked: “Now we know famously he doesnt like a lot of fuss and a lot of bother so what do you think theyre going to be doing today, theyre in lockdown so there cant be a giant family occasion, of course, what do you reckon theyll be doing?”

Roya revealed: “Well its going to be very very low-key, pretty much like every other day theyve spent in isolation at Windsor Castle.

“A low-key lunch with the Queen and we think almost certainly zoom calls, video calls with lots of members of his family.

“From William and Kate, almost certainly from Harry, Meghan and Archie in the States, from Charles and Camilla, the wider family.”

Roya addressed the photograph of the Queen and Prince Philip which marked the Dukes 99th birthday.

Lorraine remarked the photo had been taken recently and Roya agreed: “It was indeed, it was taken just last week on June 1st and really quite wonderful to see Prince Philip.

“We havent actually seen him pictured in public since Christmas Eve when he didnt look so great coming out of hospital on his way to join the royal family in Sandringham.”

Later, Lorraine and Roya discussed the Queens official birthday celebrations which are marked on the second Saturday in June.

This year the ceremonial occasion lands on June 13th but will not be a public celebration as it always has been.

Lorraine said: “Now the Queen is supposed to be celebrating her official birthday this week, usually trooping of colour and all of that. Thats not going to happen clearly.”

“Its not but it is in a slightly different way,” Roya revealed. “So usually we have the trooping of colour in London, big pomp and pageantry.

“This year for the first time ever in her 68-year reign, the Queens birthday parade, a mini trooping of colour is going to happen at Windsor Castle.”

“Behind closed doors but it will be publicly broadcast, well be able to see it,” Roya continued. “

Theyll be footage, theyll be pictures. Its going to be the Welsh Guards parading past Her Majesty.

“I think it will be quite symbolic because itll be the first time weve seen her live doing an engagement for quite a long time.”

Lorraine added: “Exactly and I think that gives people a little reassurance and thats always a good thing.”
