LONDON (Parliament Politics Magazine) – The Royal Family has gathered at Buckingham Palace for a concert where many stars are performing to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the Queen.
Over 30 royals are expected to be present at the Platinum Party at the Palace, but the Queen and Harry and Meghan will not be among them.
The performance, which will be broadcasted live on the BBC, will feature Diana Ross, Sam Ryder and George Ezra.
Prince Charles and Prince William will pay their respects to the Queen.
The Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be among the royal guests at the Jubilee concert in front of Buckingham Palace.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, however, will not be in the royal box since it is their daughter Lilibet’s first birthday.
According to a spokesperson the pair has been spending the day quietly after stepping down as senior royals in 2020.
The Queen has been suffering from mobility issues in recent months, and the palace had warned that she would be deciding which jubilee festivities she could attend.
She had to cancel thanksgiving service of the jubilee on Friday following “discomfort” during the events of Thursday, and she also couldn’t attend the Epsom Derby earlier in the day.
The event, which will be broadcasted live on BBC One tonight, will take place in front of Buckingham Palace, with an estimated audience of 22,000 people and millions more watching on television.
Hans Zimmer, Alicia Keys and Queen, who will begin the programme 20 years following Brian May, their guitarist, famously performed on the Buckingham Palace’s roof during the Golden Jubilee concert, are all on the line-up.
He told the BBC that there wouldn’t ever be another moment quite like that, however, tonight they had some really interesting moments that he believed would be remembered as well. Just being there, taking on that challenge, was a thrill.Â
It was a “hell of a thing” to be back, according to drummer Roger Taylor, who added that the regally-named band would deliver a “feelgood” opening. They wanted to get the party started with a bang and spread some joy, he remarked.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex, as well as their children Lady Louise Windsor and Viscount Severn, the Princess Royal and her husband Sir Tim Laurence, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, are all expected to attend the palace concert.
Peter Phillips, Anne’s is anticipated to attend with his daughters Savannah and Isla, as well as Zara and Mike Tindall, who spent the day with Anne and Sir Tim at the Epsom Derby.
The Duke of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, and Prince Michael of Kent are the Queen’s cousins, as well as Princess Margaret’s daughter Lady Sarah Chatto and her family are also expected to attend, with several other members from the extended family.
