How are local schools and community groups being notified?
Schools have automated systems for sending alerts by text messages, emails and/or phone calls to parents, staff and community contacts, for rapid notifications of safety incidents and/or school closures.
Headteachers or leaders of community groups issue formal written communication to communities with detailed information and instructions.
Communications are posted on official school accounts and council social media accounts and/or websites to get the message out to a wider audience more quickly.
Councils, police, and community safety teams work collaboratively and partner with schools, community organizations and local residents and families to share verified and timely information and directions.
