Police conducted a controlled explosion at Euston Station after the detection of a suspicious package.
According to LBC, Euston station, one of the busiest in the UK, was evacuated on Saturday while police investigated the doubtful package.
The metropolitan police issued this statement just before 12:30 pm “We’re aware of reports online about an incident in the vicinity of Euston Station. Police cordons are in place as a precaution while officers investigate a suspect package”.
20 minutes later, the force stated on X, “A controlled explosion has been carried out by specialist officers and the police cordons have now been lifted. Thank you for your patience”.

We will provide further updates on this thread in due course.
Images shared on social media depicted emergency vehicles outside the London station, with one user writing, “Station at Euston been evacuated and [cordons] all over the place. Plenty of police and incident support teams. Not quite sure what’s going on”.
The incident follows a string of suspicious incident reports over the past 24 hours, including at the US Embassy in London, Gatwick Airport, Chester bus station and Glasgow’s Buchanan bus station on Wednesday.
On Friday, the US Embassy was locked down as police conducted a controlled explosion while a bomb scare at Gatwick Airport led to evacuations, impacting thousands of passengers.
As reported by the Independent News, police investigating the embassy incident reported “initial indications were that the item was a hoax device” with an investigation to follow, and Essex police stated that two people were arrested during inquiries and were later allowed to continue their journeys.
As Storm Bert brought severe weather across the country, including up to 40cm of snow and 150mm of rain, travel delays occurred, coinciding with the Euston disruption.
Due to this disrupting situation, Avanti West Coast has cancelled its Saturday services between Edinburgh and Carlise, with the next direct service not running until Sunday afternoon.
South Western Rail has asked passengers to travel west of Basingstoke only for essential reasons, announcing that services will be delayed across its network on Sunday and Monday for safety inspections.
This week, X users have been discussing the same theme in the news, with many talking about the same issue, one user posted “Gatwick airport, Euston station, Chester station, the US Embassy and Glasgow have all had bomb threats in the last week”.
Another wrote, “First Gatwick, then the US embassy and Chester bus and railway stations and now Euston station? Something is going on. This isn’t normal”.
Henry Bolton, former party leader of the UK Independence Party posted on X stating, “US Embassy, Glasgow, Gatwick, Chester and, today, Euston Station. The worry is this is a cry wolf situation. Do not be complacent”.
