Richmond (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Police are appealing for witnesses after an alleged sexual assault onboard a train travelling between Feltham and Richmond earlier this week.
On October 2, at approximately 7.50 a.m., the event was reported in Richmond.
At Feltham railway station, a male traveler boarded the same train that was carrying a woman in her 30s.
The man sat down beside her and started to touch her hair, the British Transport Police (BTP) said.
The man is accused of improperly touching himself over his clothes while doing this.
Until other passengers warned her, the woman was not aware of the situation.
At Richmond, a commuter approached the man, who was then led off the train.
He is tall, stocky, white, and has a shaved head. He is dressed in a black tracksuit top and trousers.
Using reference 283 of 2 October, anyone who was on the train and saw the event should ring 0800 40 50 40 or text BTP at 61016.
Has the British Transport Police released a case reference number?
So far, the British Transport Police have not published a specific case reference number for the train sexual assault inquiry, like they have done with other cases.
When police release an appeal for information, it typically includes a case reference number clearly identifying the incident to help witnesses and the public provide information related to the appeal, but no reference number has been published in this case, although an update may come soon.
This appeal follows on the heels of a pattern of BTP increasing their efforts in tackling sexual offenses on the train and public transport as a whole, in order to make travel safer for all.
