Moscow (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Kremlin rejects US President Donald Trump’s call to end the Ukraine war, keeping military actions as a US-Russia summit in Budapest is planned.

What did Dmitry Peskov say about the Russia-US summit and the Ukraine plan?
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said Moscow will maintain its stance on the US president’s peace plan, which calls for a ceasefire along existing lines to allow talks between Russia and Kyiv.
Mr Peskov confirmed that preparations for a Russia-US summit in Budapest are set to begin soon. He refused to provide details on the planned Russia–US meeting in Budapest.
The Kremlin spokesman said,
“At the moment, there are no details regarding the Russia–US summit in Budapest; much ‘homework’ still needs to be done through the foreign ministries.”
He stated,
“The Russian Federation’s negotiating position regarding freezing the war at the line of contact remains unchanged.”
When asked about the recent Mr Putin-President Trump call, Mr Psekov declined to reveal details on territorial discussions. He said Budapest was chosen for the Russia–US summit due to Orban’s ties with both leaders.
Mr Peskov added,
“Orban has quite warm relations with President Trump and very constructive relations with President Putin. And this, of course, greatly contributed to the understanding that was worked out during the last phone call.”

“Moscow has articulated its position with absolute clarity, breadth, and depth, thoroughly presenting its rationale.”
She said,
“The statements were not made to foster controversy or debate; rather, they were designed to preclude such possibilities, backed by profound reasoning. Russia’s goal was to explain and lay out its arguments.”
Ms Zakharova stressed that Moscow’s opposition to the deliveries isn’t purely principle-based.
She stated,
“Yes, it is unacceptable – without question. But what follows is equally important: the proposal contradicts the very language of peace that the West claims so frequently at various forums.”
The spokesperson added, “The idea of supplying missiles directly conflicts with the rhetoric of peace that Western officials often cite.”

What did Donald Trump say about Tomahawks and Ukraine aid?
Referring to Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump said,
“I think he wants to make a deal.”

“Tomahawks are very dangerous weapons. They’re incredible weapons. If you like warfare, it’s one of the most accurate… they’re an amazing weapon, they’re a very powerful weapon, but they’re a very dangerous weapon.”
He warned that providing Tomahawks to Ukraine would escalate the war and could lead to serious consequences.
Mr Trump added,
“We need Tomahawks, we need a lot of other things we’ve been sending over the last four years to Ukraine… it’s beyond the money. We need the Tomahawks and we need a lot of other weapons that we’re sending over to Ukraine.”
