Barnet (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Barnet motorists are being warned of six road closures on the National Highways network this week, with drivers advised to plan ahead to avoid delays.
Additionally, it is anticipated that three of them may result in moderate delays, causing drivers to wait anywhere from ten to thirty minutes.
According to National Highways’ most recent expected works list, one closure that is now in effect is anticipated to continue this week:
- A41 northbound, junction Five Ways to M1 northbound, junction 2, Barnet Lane, and link road closure for concrete works; diversion via Local Authorities network; moderate delays (10-30 minutes) from 10 p.m. from September 25 to 5.30 a.m. on October 7.
Additionally, during the next two weeks, five more closures will start:
- There will be minor (less than ten-minute) delays on the M1 northbound from 9.30 p.m. on September 29 to 6 a.m. on October 25 due to lane closures for boundary fence works at junctions 1 and 2.
- M1 northbound, junction 2 to junction 3, lane closures for barrier works, minor delays (less than 10 minutes) from 10 p.m. on October 6 to 5.30 a.m. on October 8.
- M1 southbound, junction 5 to junction 4, lane and slip road closure for sign works, diversion via Local Authorities network, moderate delays (10-30 minutes) from 10 p.m. on October 9 to 5.30 a.m. on October 10.
- M1 southbound, junction 2 to junction 1, lane closure for survey work, minor delays (less than 10 minutes) from 10 p.m. on October 13 to 6 a.m. on October 18.
Smaller road closures won’t be part of National Highways’ agenda because they are in charge of maintaining major A-roads and motorways.
Which six National Highways closures affect Barnet this week?
M1 Southbound between Junction 4 and Junction London Gateway – roadworks will cause slight delays. A41 Northbound between junction Five Ways and M1 Northbound – closures will result in slight delays.
There are also other closures on major routes connected with M1 and A1 which are delaying and diverting traffic.
Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes if possible, to mitigate the delays and inconvenience, particularly for the maintenance and utility works that aims to generate reliable and safe infrastructure in the Barnet area.
