Croydon (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Southern train services through Croydon, Sutton, and Epsom will face cancellations, diversions, and bus replacements due to weekend engineering works.
The modifications, which will impact trains on Saturday and Sunday (August 9 and August 10), are the result of engineering work.
To help you organize your trip this week, we have streamlined and clarified the specifics.
August 9 and August 10th, Saturday and Sunday:
All lines are being closed as engineering work is done in Tulse Hill, Streatham, Croydon, and Sutton via Mitcham Junction.
On Saturday, August 9, buses will take the place of trains between Streatham and Sutton via Mitcham Junction.
On Sunday, August 10, replacement buses will go via Mitcham Junction between Tulse Hill and Sutton.
Trains between London Victoria and Horsham on Saturday and Dorking on Sunday will take a different route between Sutton and Balham and operate according to a revised schedule that includes longer travel times.
Norbury, Thornton Heath, Selhurst, Streatham, and Streatham Common will not be the stops of these trains.
Additionally, trains will stop at Selhurst on their way from London Victoria to East Grinstead.
August 10th, Sunday:
Trains between London Victoria and Three Bridges and Brighton will be rerouted between Clapham Junction and East Croydon before around 7 a.m. on Sunday. They will operate according to a revised schedule with longer travel times.
Trains that typically travel between London Victoria, Sutton, and Epsom Downs will be rerouted to and from East Croydon until nine in the morning on Sunday.
West Croydon will be the route taken by replacement buses between East Croydon and Sutton and Epsom Downs.
Trains between Dorking and London Victoria will be rerouted and operate on a modified schedule with longer travel times.
How will the engineering work impact travel between London Victoria and Sutton?
Southern trains that usually run between Sutton and London Victoria via Crystal Palace and Streatham Hill will be amended. On Sunday, these trains will only operate between Sutton and Streatham Hill. They will not serve stations between Streatham Hill and London Victoria.
Passengers traveling between London Victoria and Sutton should expect cancellations or partial train services and will likely need to use replacement bus services for the segment between Streatham Hill and London Victoria.
The engineering work involves closure of lines on Sunday, 31 August 2025, requiring alternative transport arrangements and additional travel time.
