During a visit to Iran’s eastern border, Sirus Amanollahi emphasized that the border closure initiative aims to enhance security within Iran.

The commander of the Iranian Army’s ground forces noted,

“As interactions between Iran and Afghanistan increase, we are observing daily improvements in security along our shared borders, bolstered by the presence of armed and security forces.”

Hamdullah Fetrat, deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, stated to TOLOnews that Iran’s efforts to close the border with Afghanistan are justified and are being conducted in coordination with the Islamic Emirate.

Fetrat remarked,

“It is Iran’s right to implement border closures within its territory and to take necessary security measures. The execution of this project is being carried out with the agreement and cooperation of the Islamic Emirate.”

Military affairs expert Yousuf Amin Zazai highlighted,

“Any actions taken regarding the borders between Afghanistan and Iran should be based on mutual agreements. If no agreement exists, such actions are considered one-sided and unacceptable to the Afghan people.”

Political affairs expert Hanif Khan Karokhel added that Iran’s border closure initiative could help combat drug trafficking and human smuggling while positively addressing other border-related issues.

According to Amanollahi, the border closures in Khorasan Razavi, South Khorasan, and Sistan and Baluchestan are expected to be completed within the next three years. Iran has allocated $3 billion to its armed forces to support this border closure project.
