Bromley (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Popular bar The Craft Beer Rooms in Bromley has closed its doors for good, marking the end of a local favourite spot for craft beer lovers.
The Craft Beer Rooms announced on Thursday, August 14, that they were “devastated to announce” the permanent closure of their pub located at 6 Bourne Way, Bromley.
Founded in 2018, the Craft Beer Rooms underwent a change of ownership in 2021.
After one last day of business, the bar permanently closed its doors yesterday, August 15.
In a statement uploaded on Facebook, the owners said:
“We are devastated to announce tomorrow Friday the 15th will be our final day of opening.
We want to go out with a bang so please come and join us from 8pm until close.”
The bar was a popular local spot known for its craft beer selection and community atmosphere. The closure has been met with disappointment by its patrons and the local community.
Despite the closure of The Craft Beer Rooms, a nearby venue, the Craft Beer Cabin in Bromley, opened in March 2024, continues to provide craft beer and a welcoming atmosphere in the area.
How has the Bromley craft beer scene been affected by closures?
The craft beer scene in Bromley, like much of the UK, has been significantly affected by closures due to a combination of economic pressures and market challenges.
Rising production costs, including increased wages, ingredient prices, energy bills, and inflation, have squeezed margins for many small, independent brewers. Consumer spending tightening has also forced some drinkers to opt for cheaper beer options, impacting demand for higher-priced craft beer.
These factors have made it difficult for smaller craft breweries and bars to survive, leading to a wave of closures and scale-backs in the industry. The oversaturated market, with too many breweries competing for limited consumer attention, has further contributed to the difficulties faced by craft beer businesses.
