Last November we saw the 5 most expensive Lancias ever. Today, however, we return to the Turin-based car manufacturer, one of the oldest in the Belpaese, to answer another question: what is the best-selling Lancia of all time? Small hint: since 1995 it has continued to be a commercial success.
The car we are talking about is actually the heir to a small car launched in 1985 by Autobianchi, a brand that closed its business with this model, becoming part of the Lancia brand. Until 1995 it conquered the Italian public with the name Autobianchi Y10, but then it became Lancia Y.
Like its progenitor, the Y managed to become a sales success in Italy in the blink of an eye, so much so that in the first two months of entering the market it recorded 42,000 units sold in the only petrol variant. In September 2003, after eight years and 802,605 units produced, it changed its name and design to become the Lancia Ypsilon, a B-segment car produced until 2011 and sold in approximately 543,252 units.
In 2011, then, it received another restyling that made it even more popular, so much so that it was also marketed in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Japan, at least until 2017. Even today, the Fiat Ypsilon remains in the Top 3 of the best-selling cars in Italy and , from 1996 to today, a minimum quota of 1.7 million units delivered worldwide is estimated.
In this regard, here is the new Lancia Ypsilon 2023, increasingly smart and full of style.
