Tottenham are in talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain free agent Thomas Meunier at the end of this season.
Belgian international right back Meunier is out of contract with the French champions at the end of this campaign and is one of several players, including striker Edinson Cavani and fellow defender Thiago Silva, who ahve been made available.
Spurs manager Jose Mourinho has been tracking Meunier, 28, for several months, and has earmarked the Belgian international as one of the men he wants to strengthen his defence.
With Tottenham having little or no money to spend this summer, they are looking for free agents or swap deals as a way of bolstering their squad – but Meunier would add real class.
Mourinho has reportedly already spoken to Meunier, who is represented by super agent Pini Zahavi, in an effort to persuade him that Tottenham should be his destination this summer.
Spurs have had problems at right back this season, with Serge Aurier having an inconsistent campaign
But the Spurs manager faces competition from Liverpool and Manchester United, who also like Meunier, who has 40 caps for Belgium.
The full-back though is a close friend of Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld, which the club hopes may help swing the deal.
Spurs have also been linked with Silva – but he is now 35 and on an eye watering £350,000 a week at PSG.
