London (Parliament Politics Magazine) – A car flipped onto its roof after crashing near the Shaftesbury Fountain at London’s Piccadilly Circus, injuring two people and prompting a police cordon.

The crash happened in the early hours of Sunday. It prompted a swift response from emergency teams. Two people were treated at the scene. One was taken to a trauma centre and the other to a local hospital.
Emergency teams rush to the crash scene
Ambulance crews, a rapid response paramedic, an incident officer, and members of the hazardous area response team were all dispatched to the crash scene.
The crash was reported at 5:25 am, and a paramedic arrived at Piccadilly Circus in under four minutes.
London Ambulance Service’s views on the crash
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said,
“We were called at 5.25 am today (29 June) to reports of a road traffic collision on Piccadilly, W1J. We sent several resources, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.”
They added,
“Our first paramedic arrived on scene in less than four minutes. We treated two people. We took one patient to a major trauma centre and the other patient to a local hospital.”
What did Shamin Mollah say about the crash scene?
Shamin Mollah, 41, a worker at the City Sightseeing booth. He said the area was unusually quiet when he arrived.
He added,
“When I came to work at 9 am, it was very quiet. Only the police were here, and they’d already set up the barricade. This area is busy 24/7. It would have been very dangerous. It’s very sad.”
What did Rimi Caur say about the crash impact?
Souvenir vendor Rimi Caur, working close to where the crash occurred, said,
“What can we do? We can’t open our other shop on the other side [of Piccadilly Circus]. It’s bad for business.”
She added,
“We had one other crash last year [at Piccadilly Circus] but nothing else like this. Of course, we are worried about the driver.”
Visitor’s stance on the Piccadilly crash
David Wright, 41, from Sandwich, Kent, said,
“It’s a good landmark. People like Piccadilly Circus, sitting down by the statue, seeing the advertising screens.”
Wright added,
“The crash looks brutal. I’m shocked to see this in the centre of London. It’s a tourist landmark. I’m glad there weren’t crowds of pedestrians here when it happened. If it hadn’t happened in the early hours of the morning, then it would have been much worse.”
