Ealing (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Five students from Notting Hill and Ealing High School have been selected for the Great Britain water polo squad, marking a major milestone in youth sport.
Zara Dannatt, the fifth player, left in 2025, but the other four are still students.
The Ealing current students are sisters Jaspreet, in Year 13, and Manpreet, in Year 11, along with teammates Iskra and Emily, both now in Year 11.
The school’s under 18 and under 15 teams are the current national champions while its under 13s won the national title the previous year.
Jaspreet, who has trained with her sister for several years, said the call-up reflected
“long hours every evening”.
Rob Bent, the school’s swimming and water polo coach, said:
“We are immensely proud of all five athletes. Their commitment, resilience and love for the sport have shone through, and to see them recognised at national level is fantastic.”
How does selection affect their school competitions and team rosters?
These named scholars may miss some academy matches or training sessions due to public platoon commitments, including training camps, transnational events, and qualifiers. Seminaries generally coordinate to minimize clashes but some absences are likely.
The academy’s team registries will be acclimated consequently, with backup or young players given openings to fill the gaps left by those in the public team. This may affect platoon chemistry temporarily but also encourages depth and competition.
The experience gained by those named elevates the overall standard of play when they return, frequently serving academy team performance long- term through advanced skill situations and leadership. Seminaries occasionally give special support to these athletes balancing academics and elite sports to ensure they can sustain commitments to both.
