Hounslow (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Two men were convicted for the Tyreece Scott murder in Hounslow. The same bag that the murderer wore at the time of the crime was found in his possession.

Duarra Abdi, 20, was found convicted at the Old Bailey of Tyreece Scott’s murder in Hounslow.

Ben Laing, 24, was also found guilty for the assault. Abdi was found to be carrying a bladed weapon.

The trial began Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the Central Criminal Court. According to the accusations against Tyreece Scott, he was stabbed in Hibernia Road’s premises in Hounslow before 12:00 on 16 January 2024.

The incident happened shortly after midnight according to authorities.

In what way did detectives locate the criminals?

Three days after the January 16, 2024 murder, Laing, of De Brome Road, Feltham, and Abdi, of Western Avenue, Acton, returned to the UK and were taken into custody at Stansted Airport.

Investigators were able to connect a bag Abdi was wearing at the time of the deadly assault to one he had brought with him when he was taken into custody.

Additionally, searches for “Hounslow stabbing” were discovered on his phone, which the police said was “crucial evidence at the trial.”

Morgan Allen, 29, of Reeve Street, Feltham, and Reda Mohamed, 24, of Linslade Close, Hounslow, were also convicted of corrupting the process of justice.

What role did drug trade play in the murder of Tyreece Scott?

The two fled to Morocco with the assistance of Allen and Mohamed. When returning to the UK, Abdi and Laing were taken into custody at Stansted Airport.

Prosecutor Zoe Johnson KC informed jurors that Mr. Scott had been engaged in enemy territory and that the murder’s background was connected to drug trade.

Ms. Johnson said: “We will never know the precise reason why Tyreece Scott died that night. There is no evidence that he knew the other defendants or had met them before.

“Drug dealing is an ugly, competitive business in which dealers protect their ‘turf’ at any cost. It was Tyreece Scott’s exposure to that world which led to his murder.”

Jurors were informed that there was a “compelling” case towards the defendants due to evidence such as CCTV footage, mobile phone data, and a GPS tracker on the attacker’s rental car.

According to the court, Laing acknowledged being at the scene but maintained he was unaware that his co-defendant was planning to stab Mr. Scott, while Abdi denied he was not the knifeman.

Allen and Mohamed refused any knowledge of the incident.

How did detective Stride secure justice for Tyreece Scott?

After the four suspects were found guilty, Detective Chief Inspector Ollie Stride, who oversaw the investigation into Tyreece Scott’s murder, said his team was committed to providing the victim’s family with justice.

In order to secure the case against the defendants, he emphasized the investigation team’s enormous efforts and the utilization of essential proof, including CCTV footage, mobile data, and number plate identification.

Detective Chief Inspector Ollie Stride, said:

“We continue to support Tyreece’s family through this terrible time, but we hope this conviction has given them some confidence in our prolonged efforts to bring them justice.

“Our team has worked incredibly hard to build evidence against the four defendants in this case to prove there could be no doubt as to their guilt.

“The combination of CCTV, data-led intelligence to track phones, and automatic number plate recognition evidence helped reveal a compelling case against them.

“London will be a safer place with them taken off the streets”.
