Haringey (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Haringey residents can celebrate Women’s History Month with events and activities at their local libraries, from author talks to arts and crafts sessions.
Greta Sykes will be launching her new book Eve Meets Dante, which is described as “a profound exploration of the intersections between mythology, history, and gender” and “a vivid and enlightening re-imagining of women’s roles throughout history,” in Community Room 1 this Friday, March 14, 2025, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., as part of two “Meet the Author” events at Hornsey Library.
The author of the wildly popular novel The Beekeeper of Aleppo, Christy Lefteri, will also speak there later this month on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 1:30 to 2:30.
To hear from Christy, whose award-winning work frequently examines issues of displacement, identity, and the human condition.
People can reserve the spot.
There are plenty of arts and craft activities for kids ages four to twelve* at St Ann’s Library (Saturdays in March, 10:30am-12noon; *Children under nine should be accompanied by a carer/parent), as well as author talks and book launches.
Alexandra Park Library also hosts storytime sessions on Mondays in March, 10:30am-11am.
Additionally, Coombes Croft Library offers Wellness and Art Therapy workshops with a WHM theme on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in March, and Marcus Garvey Library offers Community Art workshops on Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in March.
Children can create their own Mother’s Day cards at Hornsey Library (Friday, March 28, 2025, 4–5 p.m., *Suitable for children aged three and up), Coombes Croft Library (Saturday, March 29, 2025, 11–12 p.m., *Suitable for children aged four to eleven), or Marcus Garvey Library (Saturday, March 29, 2025, 10:30–11:30 a.m.) later this month in honor of Mothering Sunday on March 30.
On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 10:30 to 11 a.m., Hornsey Library will host a special Mother’s Day storytime session for kids ages one to five.
A number of kid-friendly workshops and craft sessions are also planned for the month, such as the “International Women’s Day Card” creation on March 8 and other imaginative events targeted at younger audiences.

WHM for kids is a fun storytime activity for kids that highlights the accomplishments and lives of historical women.
A number of radio shows that highlight the accomplishments of women through conversations and anecdotes.
An interactive painting class that encourages creativity and understanding by allowing participants to paint portraits of significant women.
An engaging class that honors women’s contributions and promotes community involvement in the arts.
It will feature film screenings that tell the tales of women’s struggles and triumphs, followed by conversations.
Arranged walks that provide informative insights into the local heritage while exploring important sites associated with women’s history in Haringey.
Creative workshops that encourage activism and awareness by allowing participants to create banners honoring women’s rights and accomplishments.
Possibilities to talk about women’s experiences and the significance of women’s narratives with writers who specialize in them.
