Wandsworth (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Wandsworth Council has extended the entry deadline for its annual ‘Wandsworth in Bloom’ competition, encouraging more residents to showcase their gardens.
The Wandsworth in Bloom gardening competition now has a new entry date of Monday, July 14 at 11:59 p.m.
There’s always time to show off your gardening prowess, regardless of your level of experience.
Your green area might win, whether it’s a front garden, a balcony, a community plot, or school sunflowers.
The categories for this year are as follows:
- Best Allotment Plot
- Best Business in Bloom
- Best Balcony or Container Garden
- Best Community Food Growing Site
- Best Community Facility Garden
- Best Front Garden
- Tallest Sunflower (nurseries and primary schools only)
- Best in Show
- People’s Choice
- Most Vibrant London Borough of Culture Garden
A group of regional gardening specialists will review the entries in July, and the winners will be revealed at a celebration event in September.
What categories are most popular among previous Wandsworth in Bloom participants?
Numerous individual or household entries showing flower arrangements, native plants, and vivid colors that are visible to the public are drawn to this category.
This category, which is popular with inhabitants who have limited space, promotes inventiveness in small-scale gardening, such as container setups or balconies.
This group includes many gardeners with conventional growing plots, emphasizing fruitful and well-kept plots.
In order to support the borough’s greening initiatives, local companies frequently take part by decorating their storefronts, cafes, restaurants, or parklets.
Schools, nurseries, community centers, and similar organizations submit entries in this category, which frequently highlights native species and community involvement.
Although they receive less involvement than the individual garden and company categories, other categories such as Tallest Sunflower (for nurseries and primary schools) and Best Street also receive participation.
