Ealing (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Ealing residents and community groups took part in World Clean Up Day 2025, joining a global movement to tackle litter across the borough.
Locally led by Who Is Hussain in charge? Witham Road, Bedford Road, Kirchen Road, and Dean Gardens, all of which have long been plagued by fly-tipping and street trash, were among the streets and green areas that were cleaned up by London.
It is a social justice nonprofit, with assistance from LAGER Can (Litter Action Group for Ealing Residents).
More than 130 bags of trash were gathered by volunteers throughout London in conjunction with initiatives in Harrow, Brent, and Westminster.
Bassam Mahfouz, London Assembly member for Ealing and Hillingdon, joined volunteers in West Ealing and praised their efforts. In a video message, he said:
“I care passionately about our environment and about our street scene. We have got to take pride in our local area and that is why I am joining Who Is Hussain today who are doing a street clean up in Kirchin Road, West Ealing.”
Central Greenford councillor Aysha Raza supported the idea as well, highlighting how crucial it is to save local animals and communities.
According to Who Is Hussain? London team lead Kumail Jaffer, the Ealing cleanup was “a resounding success and a testament to community spirit.”
He added that the fight against litter must continue:
“Keeping our streets clean is an everyday civic and patriotic duty.”
Who coordinated the World Clean Up Day event in Ealing?
Ealing’s World Clean Up Day event was coordinated by the community group of volunteers along with the social justice charity “Who Is Hussain?”. The charity “Who is Hussain?” played a significant role in coordinating the community groups and residents in the clean up in Ealing.
This partnership helped to mobilize volunteers on litter hot spots in Ealing, but also to tackle a global campaign to clean up and keep the environment sustainable.
On World Clean Up Day Saturday 20 September 2025, over 130 volunteers participated in Ealing’s clean up action, with local community groups and other residents working together .
