Plans to cut down 15m sycamore in Blackheath revealed

Greenwich (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Plans have been submitted to cut down a 15-metre sycamore tree in Blackheath, Greenwich, sparking concern among local residents and campaigners.

The most recent planning applications that have been filed to Greenwich Council include anything from house expansions and tree maintenance to new residential developments and changes of use.

Lewisham, London, SE3 9RT, 57 Lee Road. works on an olive tree, such as judicious pruning and a maximum one-meter reduction in height and spread. Reference Number: 25/3290/TC

London, SE3 7LG, Blackheath, 64 Beaconsfield Road. Two London Plane trees from No. 64 had all of their overhanging branches chopped back and returned to the main stem. Reference Number: 25/3291/TC

Lewisham, London, SE3 9DZ; 119 Lee Road. lowering the height of two sycamore trees by two meters, reducing the lateral growth by one meter, and lowering the height of a third sycamore by three meters. Reference Number: 25/3287/TC

3 Cresswell Park, SE3 9RD, London. A group of sycamores’ crown is pruned back to its original pruning points by about 2 meters, allowing 3–4 meters to preserve the crown’s shape. Reference Number: 25/3277/TC
