UK (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Wrestling legend Mick Foley says he is cutting ties with WWE in protest of the company’s continued association with former US president Donald Trump.

Trump’s “incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death” were the “final straw” for Foley, who was inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2013.

“I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy,”

Foley said in a post on social media Tuesday.

“Last night, I informed WWE talent relations that I would not be making any appearances for the company as long as this man remains in office.”

Trump, who was also honored as a celebrity honoree into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, asserted without proof that politics was to blame for the murders of Hollywood legend Rob Reiner and his wife Michele.

The younger of Rob’s two kids, Nick Reiner, was taken into custody by police on Monday on suspicion of killing his parents. The president made no mention of his personal relationship with Reiner’s photographer wife in his social media post. The original publisher of “The Art of the Deal” acknowledged on Monday that Michele Singer stole the book’s cover art from Trump’s 1987 hit.

When his current contract with Legends expires in June, Foley stated he has no intention of signing a new one.

“I love WWE, will always treasure my time with them, and I am deeply appreciative for all the opportunities they afforded me. But, in the words of Popeye the sailor, ‘I stands all I can stands, and I can’t stands no more,’

Foley added

Foley has previously voiced criticism of President Trump. He attacked the then-candidate on The Undertaker’s podcast in the run-up to the 2024 election.

The last time Foley appeared on WWE TV was in 2023.

Since Trump took office again, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, also known as Paul Levesque, has made appearances at several White House functions. The U.S. Secretary of Education at the moment is Linda McMahon, Levesque’s mother – in- law and former WWE CEO.

What reasons did Mick Foley give for leaving WWE?

Mick Foley cited WWE’s close ties to President Donald Trump as his primary reason for cutting ties, particularly Trump’s administration’s” cruel and inhuman treatment of emigrants” and” incredibly cruel commentary” following the deaths of director Rob Reiner and his wife.

Foley described Trump’spost-Reiner reflections as the breaking point, refusing to represent a company” pampering” a leader he views as lacking compassion and steering the U.S. toward authoritarianism. He notified WWE gift relations of no unborn appearances while Trump holds office and declined to renew his Legends contract expiring June 2026.

Trump’s history with WWE includes appearances and Linda McMahon’s press part, while recent superintendent orders involved WWE numbers. Foley notified gift relations of his station, emphasizing principles over enmity toward the company.
